Language Backgrounds Other Than English
UTS has a number of policies and strategies in place to assist staff from language backgrounds other than English, and to create a more inclusive environment at UTS.
The Equity & Diversity Unit coordinates:

Options include paid leave, leave without pay or time-in-lieu to allow staff to participate in cultural and religious events and ceremonies that occur during their normal hours of work.
- Skillmax language and communication skills training for staff with first languages other than English is offered regularly through the Adult Migrant English Service. Participation is during work hours.
- Meetings of the Cultural Diversity Network, a forum for staff and students to discuss diversity issues on campus.
- The provision of Cultural Diversity Awareness and Anti-Racism training.
