Professional Development for Indigenous Staff

UTS offers a range of career progression options, including:
- Individual Professional Development Plans - Individual professional development plans are developed in consultation with the Indigenous staff member and their supervisor.
- UTS In-house Training - Development and training activities offered through the Institute for Multimedia & Learning (IML), Human Resources Unit (HRU) Staff Development Branch, Information Technology Division (ITD), faculties and units are promoted to Indigenous staff in collaboration with supervisors.
- UTS degree courses - Indigenous staff members are encouraged to enrol in appropriate degree courses.
- External Training - Indigenous employees are expected to participate in work related training as identified by supervisors, such as external training/courses and conferences. The Indigenous Employment Coordinator can assist supervisors to arrange external training with accredited training institutions if necessary.
- Secondments - The Indigenous Employment Coordinator will explore possibilities for inter-university exchanges and other relevant developmental opportunities through the Australian Technology Network and the Women's Indigenous Network of WEXDEV. Internal UTS secondments may also provide professional development opportunities for Indigenous staff.
